West Haven, Conn. - After surrendering an 11-point lead towards the end of regulation, the Adelphi University men's basketball team rallied to secure a 64-61 Northeast-10 Conference victory at New Haven earlier this afternoon.
For the second straight game,
Manny Suarez led the Panthers (19-7/11-7 NE-10) in scoring with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds. Suarez was one of four in double-figures as
Anthony Libroia added 15 points and four assists.

Adelphi led for the entire first half that included two seperate 11-point margins in the final eight minutes. The first margin came after a 10-0 run after New Haven cut the deficit to 15-14. Helping to gain the 30-22 halftime lead was a 10-0 advantage in paint scoring as Suarez and DeNicola combined 20 points.
With Suarez and DeNicola leading the Brown and Gold, Bourke posted 11 points for the Chargers. Each team knocked down six 3-pointers in the half, however, Adelphi also converted five field goals inside the arc compared to just one for New Haven.
The host Chargers quickly gained their first lead of the game just three minutes into the second half after a 9-2 run. However, the Brown and Gold responded quickly as well by regaining the lead and taking a 42-34 lead with 11:09 left after a DeNicola layup.
Not giving up, New Haven again rallied and took the lead back at 53-51 followed by another basket to claim a four-point lead with less than five minutes remaining. Libroia, however, gave the Panthers the lead for good after turning around the deficit with a 10-4 run. The senior converted a layup with 2:05 left to capture a 61-59 lead. From there, Ginyard went 3-for-4 from the charity stripe to secure the win.
Adelphi returns to the road on Wednesday for its final regular-season road game of the season. The Panthers take a trip to Syracuse to face the Dolphins at 7:00 pm.
