Volleyball Closes The Regular Season With a Sweep of Southern New Hampshire

Adelphi secured the fifth seed in the Northeast-10 Championship with the win.

Manchester, NH - The Adelphi University volleyball team ended the regular season today, November 12, in Manchester, New Hampshire against Southern New Hampshire University (7-21, 4-10 NE-10) and secured the fifth seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-14) sweep.

Both Melissa Rigo and Mandy Stanislovaitis posted double figure kill totals with 14 and 11, while Megan Manierski led all players with 24 set assists. Adelphi's (18-11, 9-5 NE-10) defensive effort was led by Sierra Crook, who registered 19 digs and Manierski chipped in nine, with Stanislovaitis and Rebecca Seeba picking up eight each.

Adelphi and Southern New Hampshire exchanged several leads in the first set, and the hosts led by two late in the action, 19-17. However, a Stanislovaitis effort sparked a five points Panther run that put the Brown and Gold on top for good, 22-19. The Penmen made one more push, getting as close as one, 22-21, three straight Adelphi kills from, Manierski, Crook and Stanislovaitis put an end to the first game, 25-21.

The hosts took control of the second set in the early going, jumping out to a 5-2 lead. The Adelphi response came in the form of a Rigo kill that kicked off a set changing, 13-1 run that was bookended by a Rigo service ace, 15-6. Southern New Hampshire rallied late, getting as close as three points, 24-21 on a service ace, but Manierski closed the door with a set ending kill, 25-21. 

The Penmen took another early lead in the third frame, stalking out to an 8-4 advantage. However, Adelphi had one more run left, turning a four point deficit into a seven point bulge with a 12-1 run that was capped by a Seeba kill, 16-9. The Brown and Gold continued to pull away, picking up a 25-14 game win and a 3-0 match victory.

Up Next:
Adelphi will begin post season play and pursuit of the programs third straight and fourth overall Northeast-10 Championship on Tuesday, November 15 when they travel to Saint Anselm for a 7:00 pm quarterfinal contest.

Notes:
- Adelphi will meet Saint Anselm for the second time this season on Tuesday, November 15 in the Northeast-10 Championship quarterfinals. Their previous meeting came on October 5 and was a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-15) in favor of Adelphi. 
- The Panthers are 10-1  all-time against Saint Anselm.
- Adelphi has never lost to Southern New Hampshire, with an all-time record of 11-0.
