Philadelphia, PA - A second member of the Adelphi University volleyball team,
Sierra Crook, reached a career milestone tonight in a, 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-13) non-conference win over Chestnut Hill (7-10) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Crook managed 19 digs in the win, but it was her ninth that made her the first player in program history to record 2,000 digs in a career.
Adelphi (9-7) were led offensively by
Amanda Borges and
Mandy Stanislovaitis, who were credited with 15 and 12 kills respectively, teammate
Melissa Rigo just missed out on double digits with nine. Crook led the Brown and Gold with 19 digs and Rigo chipped in 11, while
Megan Manierski had a game-high 38 set assists.
Both the Panthers and Griffins managed 10 kills in the first set, but Adelphi took advantage of six Chestnut Hill errors, while committing just three to open play with a 25-18 win. The second set was a back and forth affair that required extra points to decide a winner. However, the Brown and Gold were credited with 21 kills, which was more then the hosts could overcome, giving Adelphi a 26-24 victory. The third set was all Panthers, thanks to 15 kills and a .467 attack percentage for the guests, which earned Adelphi the set and the match, 25-13.
