Chris Chambliss and Willie Randolph Shine At Fall Cocktail Event Presented by Legacy Advisors Financial Group

Carle Place, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held its annual Fall Cocktail Reception presented by Legacy Advisors on Monday, October, at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, N.Y. Chris Chambliss, former Cleveland Indian, Atlanta Brave and New York Yankee, was this year's special guest along with another former Yankee and previous Fall Cocktail guest, Willie Randolph. The duo took pictures and chatted with "Talking Baseball's" Ed Randall in front of a crowd of nearly 350 people during the eventful evening that raised over funds for Adelphi University athletics.

"It was another exciting time at this year's cocktail party with two former Yankee greats," remarked Danny McCabe, Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation. "The support that the community, alumni and friends show for our student-athletes and the Panther Club is remarkable.  We are truly grateful for the unbelievable support from so many who are committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience."

The evening began with cocktails and a buffet catered by the Chateau Briand, and segued into a photo event in which Chambliss and Randolph greeted and signed pictures and baseball for those in attendance.

Dom Scala, head coach of the Adelphi baseball team and former bullpen coach for the New York Yankees, emceed the event and welcomed everyone with his opening speech. Scala, also introduced Randall, Adelphi University President, Dr. Christine M. Riordan as well as McCabe.

Randall, a world renowned baseball media personality and host of Ed Randall's Talking Baseball radio show on WFAN, interviewed both Chambliss and Randolph about their careers, playing for the Yankees as well as time spent since playing in the major.

The night finished with a raffle and silent auction winners collecting their memorabilia, which featured autographed baseballs, jerseys, cleats, pictures, bats and other items that were signed by prominent and current players such as David Wright, Daniel Murphy, Jon Lester as well as legends of the game. All the proceeds of which were donated to Adelphi Athletics for the benefit of the student-athletes.

"Just another great night of fun and stories," said Scala. "It was especially memorable because it was the 40th anniversary of Chris's historic home run. Additionally, Willie Randolph's stories & personality just lit up the room. I am proud to be part of such a great event."
