Late Strike Lifts #11 Men's Soccer At Southern New Hampshire, 1-0

Manchester, N.H. - A late goal from Alejandro Penzini helped guide the 11th ranked Adelphi University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Northeat-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire earlier this evening.

After 83 minutes of shutout action, the Brown and Gold (10-1-1/8-0-1 NE-10) jumped ahead 1-0 during the 84th minute as Penzini headed in a pass from Jordan Daniel. Daniel served in a ball from the right flank that allowed the senior defender to score on the left side of the net.

The Panthers attacked early in the game, creating a shot for Federico De Oliveira and two corner kicks within the first four minutes. The offense also forced Southern New Hampshire (8-3-1/5-3-1 NE-10) goalkeeper Nick Zucco to make six saves within the first 45 minutes. Adelphi concluded the opening half with a 7-2 shot advantage while also creating four corner kicks. One of the two shots for the Penmen forced Spenser Powell to make one save.

The second half resulted in 10 shots being evenly split between both teams as well as more aggressive play creating three yellow cards between the two programs. Powell came away with three saves in the period, including two following Penzini's goal. The strike from Penzini was the final shot of the half for Adelphi as Southern New Hampshire looked to find the equalizer in the final six minutes, however, Powell and the Panther backline completed eighth shutout of the year.

Adelphi returns to Garden City on Wednesday to play the first of the final two home games of the regular season, hosting Southern Connecticut for a 7:00 pm contest.

Notes:
- The shutout is the first since Adelphi strung together seven straight blank sheets, a streak that ended on Saturday, October 1.
- Southern Connecticut played the first two games of the season on Motamed Field earlier this season.
