Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team remained perfect for the 2015-16 season thus far, defeating St. Michael's College 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Two 8-0 victories at doubles helped Adelphi take command on the day, as
Stefani Lineva and
Karen Serina as well as
Rebecca Fakas and
Elena Nastasi blanked their opponents at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. The Panthers finished the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory by
Elizabeth Kallenberg and
Samantha Perri at No. 2.
The Panthers didn't drop a set in six singles victories on the day, led by Serina, Perri and Nastasi recording identical 6-1, 6-1 scores at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6. Fakas dropped the fewest games of any Adelphi player in singles, dropping just one against Colleen O'Keefe at No. 4 and Lineva defeated Erica Bundrick, 6-2, 6-3 in the tighest match of the day to secure the win.
"We continue to improve in our doubles and it's showing in every match," head coach
