Garden City, NY – On the final day of the regular season, the Adelphi University baseball team split a doubleheader with Saint Rose. The Golden Knights took the first Northeast-10 Conference game 7-6 while the Panthers claimed a 14-1 win in the nightcap.

In the process, the Brown and Gold secured the fourth seed in the upcoming NE-10 Championships for the Southwest Division. Highlighting the second game victory was Jonathon Mulford tossing 6.0 shutout innings to move 7-0 on the season and picking up the offense knocking out 18 hits for 14 runs.

Saint Rose created a 7-0 advantage in the opener with two separate three-run innings with a one-run frame coming in between. Three straight singles led off the second inning for the Golden Knights with the third scoring a run from Alec Caprarella . Two batters later, Lukas Nethaway scored on a bases loaded walk followed by Joseph Carcone driving in the final run of the inning on a single.

Caprarella scored the lone run of the fourth inning on a RBI single from Bray Curreri. The Golden Knights put together another three-run in the fifth inning, started off with Derek Reed scoring on a wild pitch. Nethaway then picked up a RBI single before Nick Venier scored the third run on double steal to put Saint Rose up 7-0.

The Panthers started to cut into the deficit in the sixth with two runs on two hits. Robert Vani picked up the first RBI on sacrifice fly followed by Nick Zito scoring on a fielder's choice, allowing Vincent Sharkey to gain a RBI. A two-RBI double from Triano in the eighth brough the Brown and Gold to within 7-4 entering the ninth.

In the final inning, Vani picked up another RBI with a double before scoring in the next at-bat as Tyler Murphy singled to left field. However, with only one out needed, Saint Rose pitcher Chris Gould produced a fly out secure the 7-6 victory.

Looking to avoid the series sweep in nightcap, Adelphi took an early 4-0 lead after one inning with Zito driving in Donato Signore for the first run followed by Kory Cassara scoring on a balk. Murphy added another RBI on the day with a single before Vani scored on a error.

In the second, Cassara started a two-out rally with a homerun to left field followed Zito scoring on an error. Zach Levinson drove in the seventh run of the game for Adelphi in the third with a RBI single before scoring on a Zito sacrifice fly to make it 8-0 after three.

After a scoreless fourth, the Panthers increased their lead to 12-0 with four runs in the fifth. Ztio and Vani each picked up RBI singles to kick start the scoring followed by a two-RBI double from Triano to the gap in the left center. In the seventh, Vani drove in Zito while John Fogarty notched a sacrifice fly to score Vani, giving the Brown and Gold 14-0 advantage.

The Golden Knights put together a run in the top of the ninth as Tyler Ungerland picked up a RBI through the right side. However, Mike Cranston struck out Nethaway for the final out and close out the 14-1 regular season finale victory.

The Panthers face first seeded Pace on Tuesday at site to be determined in the opening round of the NE-10 Championships.
