#1 Women's Lacrosse Rolls On, Defeats Franklin Pierce, 20-4

Jacqueline Jahelka led the way with five goals and an assist.

Rindge, NH - The Adelphi University women's lacrosse offense warmed up a cold day in New Hampshire, scoring 20 goals, led by five from Jacqueline Jahelka, in a 20-4 victory over Northeast-10 opponent Franklin Pierce on Saturday, March 28. With the win the Panthers remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in conference, while the Ravens slip to 4-3 and 2-3 in the NE-10.

Jahelka led the offense with six points, adding an assist to her five tallies, while Alexa Froccaro totaled five points on two goals and three helpers. Emily Keesling and Chandley Borges tallied four points each, Keesling on three goals and an assist and Borges thanks to two and two. Michelle Scannell had three points on one goal and two assists and seven other members of the Brown and Gold posted at least one point.

Defensively, three players caused one turnover, while Felicia Mills and Camille Rosellini controlled the draw, grabbing nine and six draw controls respectively. Three different Panthers also grabbed two ground balls in the win and Taylor Hayes picked up her ninth victory of the season, making one stop in goal.

Adelphi took control of the contest immediately, scoring just 80 seconds in, courtesy of a Keesling effort off a Rachel Aitkens feed. From there the Brown and Gold went on a 14 goal run, including netting 12 goals in the first 18 minutes of action. The Panthers would have gone into the half with a 14-0 lead, but the Ravens found the back of the Adelphi goal with just 39 ticks left.

The second half looked to be more of the same, thanks to a Casey Zalewski goal just 1:45 into the action. However, the hosts went on a three goal run, the finally tally coming at the 14:23 mark, making it an 11 goal game, 15-4. But, the Panthers stole back momentum and retook control, closing the contest on a five goal run, waling out of Rindge with a 20-4 victory.

The Brown and Gold return to action on Saturday, April 4 when they welcome Merrimack College to Garden City for a 4:00 pm contest.
