#5 Men's Lacrosse Bumps Off Bentley, 15-9

Nick Susko and Salvatore Tuttle led the Panthers past the Falcons with a combined 13 points.

Waltham, MA - The Adelphi University men's lacrosse team got a combined 13 points from Nick Susko and Salvatore Tuttle, powering past Bentley University, 15-9 on Saturday, March 28. With the win the Panthers improve to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Falcons slip to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference action.

Susko led the offense with seven points on six goals and an assist, while Tuttle added three goals and three helpers. Tim Daly, Connor Duddy and Jack Cutrone were the only other members of the Brown and Gold with more then one point, posting one goal and one assist each.

Joe Giardina led the defense with two of Adelphi's six caused turnovers, while both Luke Spitzer and John English grabbed up five ground balls. English also helped the Panthers control the face-off "X", winning 15 of 28 face-off attempts. John McGrath and DJ Mauro split time in net for Adelphi, combining for 16 stops.

Adelphi opened the contest with two straight tallies, before the hosts netted two of the next three goals, making it a 3-2 contest after 15 minutes. The Panthers three goals came off the sticks of Cutrone, Spitzer and Duddy in the first stanza. Bentley kept the momentum going in the second quarter, striking first, but a Tuttle tally with 11:10 left kicked off a three goal run, that was capped by Susko and put Adelphi ahead, 6-3 at the 4:58 mark.

The Falcons stemmed the tied just before the half, scoring with eight seconds left in the second to cut the margin to just two, 6-4 at intermission. Again the hosts kept the pressure on, scoring twice, the second with 13:16 to go in the third quarter, tying the game at six. However, another Tuttle goal, this one on a man-up opportunity, started a four goal Panther run, ending with a Susko effort with 75 seconds left on the clock, sending Adelphi into the final 15 minutes with a four goal lead, 10-6.

For the third straight quarter the hosts struck first, and then scored two of the next three goals to get within two tallies, 11-9, on a Bobby Hinds goal with 9:40 remaining. But, that was as close as the Falcons would get as the Brown and Gold closed the contest on a four goal run, capped by a Daly man-up goal, 15-9.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, April 4 when they travel to Colchester, Vermont for a noon meeting with Saint Michael's College.
