#4 Men's Lacrosse Slays the Golden Knights, 16-4 with a Seven Goal Third Quarter

Garden City, N.Y. - Cold temperatures today's Northeast-10 contest against the College of Saint Rose to move south, from Albany to Garden City, but #4 Adelphi used a blazing seven goal third quarter to put away the Golden Knights, 16-4. With the win the Panthers remain undefeated at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference, while Saint Rose continues to search for their first win of the season at 0-2 and 0-1.

Salvatore Tuttle led all players with seven points on three goals and four assists, while Nick Susko scored three goals, two off Tuttle feeds and added an assist. Jack Cutrone and Tim Daly also had strong days, scoring three points each, Cutrone on three goals and Daly on one tally and two helpers.

Defensively, Joe Sciara caused three turnovers and grabbed five loose balls, Joe Giardina caused two Saint Rose turnovers and also nabbed five ground balls. Ralph Faiella was the only other Panther to cause more then one turnover, with two. John English controlled the face-off X for the Panthers, winning 15 of 23 trips to the circle, while netting four ground balls. James McCann led all players with a game-high six ground balls. 

John McGrath got the start in cage for Adelphi, making three saves to pick up his third win of the season, while DJ Mauro made four saves in relief. 

There was a lot of feeling out in the first quarter, neither team was able to get on the board in the first 10 minutes of action. However, Cutrone scored back-to-back goals to kick off a four tally Panther spurt that sent the contest in to the second quarter, 4-0 in the home team's favor.

The visitors opened the second stanza quickly, getting unassisted goals from Kevin Fleming and Ryan McFee, closing the game to just two, 4-2 with 12:27 on the clock.That was as close as the Golden Knights would get. A Connor Duddy goal with 7:27 left in the half sparked a run of 10 straight Brown and Gold goals, which lasted from the second quarter, into the thrid minute of the third quarter, where it was capped off by a Cory Stavis tally at the 3:15 mark. 

In all seven different players scored during the run, which lasted a total of 19:12, leaving Adelphi with an insurmountable, 14-2 advantage. Each team would get two goals in the ensuing 18 minutes, and the Panthers walked away with a 16-4 Northeast-10 victory.

Statistically, Adelphi won every major category, taking more shots, 55-19, committing less turnovers, 11-19, grabbing more ground balls, 44-27 and winning more face-offs, 15-8.
