Late Free Throws Seals 83-76 Victory For Men's Basketball Against Le Moyne

Garden City, N.Y. – Late free throws down the stretch sealed an 83-76 Northeast-10 Conference victory for Adelphi University men's basketball against visiting Le Moyne earlier this afternoon.

Michael Coffey led the offense with 23 points that included 8-for-10 from the line while Anthony Libroia added 21 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Tying a career-high, Ryan DeNicola pulled in 15 rebounds to go along with nine points.

Only turning the ball over five times, the Dolphins effort was benefitted by a 12-2 points off turnover advantage as well as a margin of 16-7 in second chance points. Qwadere Lovell notched 20 points to lead four players in double-figures. Daniel Kaigler posted 13 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

Two free throws from Justin Jenkins just more than five minutes into the first half gave the Panthers a 19-5 lead that included two 3-pointers from Libroia to start the game. The Brown and Gold were able to hold off the first run by the Dolphins, taking a 12-point lead with less than three minutes left on a trey from Coffey. However, Le Moyne ran off a 12-2 run to end the half capped off by a running jumper from Lovell before the buzzer.

Lovell ended the first half with a team-high 11 points while Libroia scored 12 points for Adelphi to go along with four assists. Coffey added 11 points that included three 3-pointers while DeNicola hauled in 11 rebounds. Only one turnover for the Dolphins and five for the Panthers helped bring Le Moyne within two points at the half.

The Dolphins run continued into the second half taking a lead on a Lovell 3-pointer at 46-45 and later took a five-point advantage to start the period on a 9-4 run. A quick 7-0 run for the Brown and Gold, including five straight points from Jack Laffey, helped take the lead back at 53-50.

In the final moments, Adelphi was able to seal the victory by going 12-for-14 from the free throw line including seven made from Coffey.

The Panthers return this Tuesday to start two straight nights of games, hosting Salem International at 6:00 pm.
