Garden City, N.Y. – Despite two extra point sets, the Adelphi University volleyball team was upended 3-0 this evening by NYIT in the NCAA East Region Semifinal round.
In the effort, with her first kill of the match,
Mandy Stanislovaitis set the single season program record for kills after tying the mark last night. The juniors finished with nine on the evening, one behind a team-best 10 from
McKenna Clawson.
Sierra Crook held the backline with 20 digs while
Megan Manierski set 28 assists.
Emily Mankowski recorded 18 kills to lead the Bears' winning effort while Karolina Moderova finished with 13. Helping to pace that attack was 46 assists from Allison Fowler. Defensively, Becky Syers led three individuals in double-digit digs with 20.
Spearheaded by a nine kill performance from Emily Mankowski, the Bears were able to stretch out a 25-16 first set victory that included Mankowski swinging for the final three kills. As a team, NYIT hit for a .343 percentage compared to .188 for the Panthers.

McKenna Clawson paced the Brown and Gold with three kills each that included that all-time single season program record for Stanislovaitis.
After trailing 6-1 in the second set as well as 20-14, the Panthers were able to rally and even the score at 21-21. However, Adelphi could not take over the lead as the Bears went on to a 28-26 win and take a 2-0 match lead. NYIT totaled 21 kills in the set with Karolina Moderova and Mankowski combining for 11. The Brown and Gold effort was helped by five blocks as well as five kills from Stanislovaitis.
Looking to force another set, the Panthers jumped out to a 10-5 advantage in the third set and again led by five points at 20-15. However, NYIT evened the score at 22-22 and took the lead at 24-23 on the way to closing out the match with a 26-24 victory.
Earlier this evening, Bridgeport upended Dowling to move on to Saturday's Regional Championship with a 3-0 victory. The Bears and Purple Knights play for the Regional Championship tomorrow at 7:00 pm.
