Men's Soccer On To The NE-10 Semifinals With 2-0 Win Against Le Moyne; Travel To Merrimack Friday

Garden City, N.Y. – Two second half goals propelled the Adelphi University men's soccer team to the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinal round after a 2-0 victory against Le Moyne in a quarterfinal match this evening.

Both teams created opportunities in the first half, however, neither was able to finish those chances. Adelphi put more shots in the air, 8-3, while Le Moyne created more corner kicks, 3-2. Ben Beaury stopped two shots in net for the Dolphins while Spenser Powell made one save for the Panthers.

The pressure from the first half continued into the second half for the Brown and Gold with an early strike. Less than five minutes into the period, James Thristino finished a cross from Federico De Oliveira on the far post after a pass from the left side.

Thristino was again apart of another goal for the Panthers in the 73rd minute. Will Rezin created from the same space De Oliveira did earlier, sending a low line drive that the freshman tipped behind to find the foot of Caelan Hueber, finishing from six yards out to give Adelphi a 2-0 lead.

Adelphi finished with a 15-9 shot advantage while both teams created four corner kicks. Beaury stopped a total of five shots to keep the score Dolphin deficit limited, while Powell moved to 2-0 on the season with four saves, three in the final 45 minutes.

The Brown and Gold now travel to Merrimack to face the Warriors at 7:00 pm on Friday in the semifinal round of the NE-10 Championship.
