Hempstead Lake, N.Y. -- The Adelphi University women's tennis team continued its unbeaten run through the 2015-16 season thus far, winning a match indoors at the Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Center for the second straight afternoon on Sunday. The Panthers used a sweep of doubles en route to claiming an 8-1 win over the Hawks of Saint Anselm College.
Adelphi (10-0, 9-0 NE-10) won all three doubles contests for second straight match, but shifted the lineup as
Elizabeth Kallenberg and
Samantha Perri stepped into the No. 1 spot looking to improve to 9-0 on the season together. The sophomore and freshman pairing continued their run of good form en route to winning 8-3, while
Stefani Lineva and
Karen Serina secured an 8-4 win at No. 2 and
Rebecca Fakas and
Elena Nastasi completed the 3-0 sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3.
Perri shined in singles as well, winning at No. 5 by a 6-0, 6-0 score for the second match in a row, and Nastasi also rolled to a two set, 6-2, 6-1 win. Kallenberg, Fakas and Serina completed the victory with pro set wins, as Fakas also did not drop a game en route to winning 8-0 at fourth flight.
"We are please to have played a solid match today in a very nice and energetic environment," head coach
Michael Misiti stated. "Playing the men and women simultaneously and seeing so many fans there made it an exciting match."
