Stonehill Runs to 83-61 Victory Against Men's Basketball

The Skyhawks put together two long runs in each half to upend the Panthers earlier this evening.

North Easton, MA – Stonehill used a long run in each half to upend the visiting Adelphi University men's basketball team tonight 83-61 in a Northeast-10 Conference midweek cross divisional game.

Junior Anthony Libroia and senior Duane Morgan shared the team-high of 17 points for the Panthers (4-9/1-6 NE-10) while also coming up with two steals each. Sophomore Damon Coleman added 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc.

Stonehill (9-4/5-3 NE-10) had four players in double-figures led by 17 from Pierce Cumpstone. Jimmy Walsh added 11 points and eight rebounds while Carter Smith also tallied 11 points to go along with six rebounds.

The Skyhawks scored 13 unanswered points in less than four minutes in the later stages of the first half to open up a 31-16 advantage. A Morgan dunk originally tied the score at 11 at the 12:06 mark before Stonehill outscored the Panthers 31-11 to end the first period.

Coleman scored eight points in the opening half while shooting 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Cumpstone poured in 15 points in reserve duty for the Skyhawks on 6-of-9 shooting. Additionally, Stonehill held a 23-12 rebounding advantage and outscored the Adelphi bench 28-3 in large part due to Cumpstone.

The Skyhawks opened the second half by growing their lead to 26 points at 51-25 on a Ryan Logan layup before the Panthers made a run. In eight minutes, the Brow and Gold cut the deficit down from 26 points to six points on a layup from Morgan after a Coleman steal with 9:48 remaining to cap off a 26-6 run.
