Garden City, NY - The Adelphi University field hockey team played host to non-conference opponent East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon to open their season; a decision ending in favor of the Warriors, 7-0.

The first half of play was a defensive battle between both teams, as the Panthers maintained control of the ball in Warrior territory for the opening three minutes. The game went the length of the field and back multiple times, as theha visiting team put up four shots on goal to the Brown and Gold's two. Kristen Bagley was granted a penalty stroke just seconds before the half came to a close, but was unable to capitalize as ESU goalkeeper Danielle Ard knocked the left-bound shot out of the cage.

After haltime, the Black and Red came out with a mission, scoring three goals with in the first nine minutes of play. Five different Warriors found a way to the back of the Panther cage, including Ally Roth and Jessica Lawville, who each picked up two goals on the day.

Adelphi goalkeeper Kelly Serrao concluded the game with eight saves from 17 shots.

"I think it was a tale of two games- we definitely showed in the first half that we could hang with their [ESU's] caliber of play," said Head Coach Gloria O'Connor. "We need to regroup and get in better shape mentally and physically."

The Panthers will return to Motamed Field tomorrow at noon for a non-conference contest against Mercyhurst University
