Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight, Downs Assumption 7-2

The Brown and Gold have claimed all four matches by 7-2 scores.

Katarina Barborikova picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win in singles to lead Adelphi past Assumption.
Worcester, Mass. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team ran its season-opening winning streak to four matches with a 7-2 against the Greyhounds of Assumption College on Sunday morning. With the win, the Panthers close out their three state, three day road trip at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds drop to 0-4 and 0-2 in the conference.

Each of the Panthers' wins so far this season have come by 7-2 scorelines, and Sunday was no different. Their only losses came in matches that didn't take the court, as the Brown and Gold were forced to default No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. That didn't stop their momentum, however, and they dropped just one set en route to victory.

Katarina Barborikova continued her strong early season form for Adelphi, recording her second 6-1, 6-0 result of the season. The junior has dropped just seven games in eight sets in sngles so far this season. She and Charlotte Moreau also continued to lead the squad on the doubles court, recording an 8-2 win over Hannah Riley and Cassie Burbine.

The toughest match of Sunday's contest came for senior Joanna Haich, as she was forced to dig deep to see off Maggie Holland at No. 4 singles. Haich rebounded from dropping a tough middle set to see off Holland in a match tiebreak, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.
