New Haven, Conn. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team ran its conference record to 9-1 with a 6-3 win on the road against the University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon. With the match tied at 2-2, the Panthers picked up four points in singles to secure their ninth conference win of the year, surpassing their eight NE-10 wins of a season ago. The Panthers currently stand at 10-5 overall, while New Haven ends its season at 7-7 and 5-7 in the NE-10.
Katarina Barborikova and
Charlotte Moreau continued their solid season at first doubles, as they ran their record to 6-3 overall at the position win an 8-2 win over Eva Rybka and Lindsey Conley.
Gaby Adia and
Joanna Haich put Adelphi in the lead with an easy 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles, and they improved to 6-2 as a team.
In singles play, Moreau, last week's NE-10 Player of the Week, bounced back from a loss against AIC and rolled past Rybka, 6-1 6-3. Haich continued her solid weekend, as she dropped just three games in dispatching Nigri at the No. 3 spot, and
Jennifer Ferguson continued a solid freshman campaign with a 6-2, 6-0 win against the lone senior on the Chargers' roster, Nan Sirihorachai at No. 6 singles. Adia clinched the win for the team after fighting off a spirited second set challenge from Conley, 6-1, 7-6.
