Women's Tennis Tops St. Michael's, 6-3

The Panthers picked up their second NE-10 win and snapped a four-match losing streak.

Charlotte Moreau stepped into the No. 1 singles spot for Adelphi and recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Colchester, Vt. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team snapped a four match losing streak as they recorded a 6-3 win against St. Michael's College on the road on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while St. Michael's remains winless at 0-7 and 0-6 in conference play.

With the match poised at 1-1 in doubles play, Katarina Barborikova and Charlotte Moreau delivered the go-ahead point for Adelphi. The duo picked up their first win at top flight doubles by an 8-5 score, and put Adelphi in the lead heading to singles play.

Moreau continued her good form in the match as she picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at first singles in her first match at that spot on the season. Barborikova broke a personal three match losing streak as she recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win at second singles. Joanna Haich and Gaby Adia delivered strong performances at third and fourth singles, respectively, to see the Panthers to victory.

Coach's Thoughts on the Match
"It is great to get our first win of the winter in an important conference fixture which we lost last year," Head Coach Michael Misiti stated. "We showed a lot of determination in this match and was the best of the season for us. Hopefully, we can continue this momentum to next week against St. Anselm."
