Women's Tennis Handles the Greyhounds, 6-3

Panthers run Northeast-10 record to 6-0.

Charlotte Moreau led the Panthers with wins at both No. 1 spots.
Port Washington, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team rallied from 2-1 down after doubles for the second straight match to secure a 6-3 victory over the Greyhounds of Assumption College on Friday indoors at the Port Washington Tennis Academy. The Panthers have won six straight matches to improve their record to 7-4 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast-10, while Assumption falls to 2-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

The Panthers were forced to fight from behind again, as their only victory in doubles play came courtesy of Charlotte Moreau and Katarina Barborikova blanking their opponents, 8-0, at first doubles. The Panthers picked up five victories in singles, as their only loss came when Joanna Haich was forced to retire due to injury. Moreau and Barborikova continued their strong play on the singles court, as both dropped just two games en route to their victories. Gaby Adia, Jennifer Ferguson and Taylor King all rebounded from close doubles losses to win on the singles court. King received a tough challenge from her opponent in the second set at sixth singles, but managed to prevail 6-2, 7-5.

"This was another tough win for the women," Head Coach Micahel Misiti stated. "We did have a few injuries, so getting through a difficult match like this with a W is a huge lift for us in our season. We have big goals for this season and getting through matches as these are important."
