Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight, Tops Saint Rose 7-0

Panthers improve NE-10 record to 5-0.

Bianca Bernal picked up the first singles win of her collegiate career against St. Rose.
Syosset, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose, 7-0 indoors at Sportime at Syosset. With the win, the Panthers improve to 6-4 overall and 5-0 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights drop to 0-13 overall and remain winless at 0-8 in the conference.

The Panthers won both doubles match that were played, as Katarina Barborikova and Jennifer Ferguson partnered for the first time this season to win 8-2 at first doubles, and Gaby Adia and Taylor King won by an 8-1 scored at second doubles. The third doubles point was also awarded to the Panthers by default.

After also being awarded the sixth singles point by default, the Panthers swept the remaining five singles matches. Adia and King both recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories while Barborikova dropped just one game at the top spot. Freshman Ferguson followed up the doubles win with a 6-3, 6-1 win at third singles, while Bianca Bernal recorded her first win of the season in come from behind fashion, 2-6, 7-6, 10-6.
