Women's Tennis Blanked by NYIT, 9-0

The Panthers were unable to record a point against the No. 11 team in the nation

With the loss, the Panthers drop to 2-3 overall.
Box Score Port Washington, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team traveled to nearby Port Washington, N.Y. to face off against the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology on Friday. The Bears, ranked No. 11 in the country in the latest ITA national poll, showed why as they defeated the Panthers by a 9-0 final score. With the loss, the Panthers drop to 2-3 overall while the Bears improve to 16-0.

In doubles play, the Brown and Gold stayed with their ranked opponents early, but the first team of Katarina Barborikova and Joanna Haich, as well as the third team of Charlotte Moreau and Gaby Adia, would eventually fall by 8-3 scores.

After falling behind following doubles play, the Panthers were unable to stage a comeback in singles, as Barborikova and Haich were bested by their opponents at first and third singles, while Gaby Adia succumbed in a 6-2, 6-4 loss in the fourth spot.

Coach's Thoughts on the Match
"Now having the two toughest matches of the year in our rear view mirror, we can look forward to competing in our conference and reaching the goals we've set for ourselves this year," Head Coach Michael Misiti stated. "The two tough losses we've felt this week are a wake up call to get to where we want to be."
