Garden City, NY – Returning to action after 11 days since the last game, the Adelphi University men's basketball team was upended 65-54 by non-conference rival LIU Post on the last day of 2014.

Damon Coleman shared the game-high of 17 points for the Panthers (4-7). Junior
Ryan DeNicola pulled in 12 rebounds while classmate
Anthony Libroia dished out seven assists.
Jared Hall led a balanced attack for the Pioneers (5-6) by coming off the bench to score 13 points and bring in eight rebounds. Also turning in a solid performance in reserve duty was Akosa Maduegbunam with nine points and eight rebounds.
The Panthers jumped out to a seven-point lead twice in the first half with Coffey hitting a 3-pointer to make it 10-3 followed by a Coleman trey with 8:20 left to put the Brown and Gold up 19-12. However, the Pioneers put on a 16-0 run in nearly five minutes to claim a 28-19 advantage. LIU Post used the run to go into the halftime break leading 30-23.
Coleman played 15 minutes in reserve duty during the first period to score a half-high 9 nine point behind 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc. Coffey added eight points for the Panthers while P.J. Torres led LIU Post with eight points. Maduegbunam added six points and six boards in the first 20 minutes.
Adelphi regained the lead in a little more than five minutes into the second half with a 16-4 spurt ended by three free throws from Coffey and a layup from DeNicola. Hall then put in back-to-back layups for LIU Post to put the Pioneers up for good at 36-35. The Green and Yellow notched eight free throws in the final 76 seconds to secure a 65-54 win.
The Panthers are back in Northeast-10 Conference play this Saturday with a road trip to Syracuse on Saturday to face the Dolphins of Le Moyne. Opening tip is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
