New Haven, CT - The Adelphi University field hockey program picked up its sixth conference win from a 3-1 decision after traveling to Southern Connecticut State University Tuesday evening. The Panthers roll to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference as the Owls drop to 2-13 and 0-8 in league play.
Mary Plotas drove the offensive side for the team as she scored all three goals in the win.
Molly Cuevas was responsible for two assists and
Amanda Gargiulo collected one save on just four shots faced.
The Brown and Gold grabbed a 2-0 lead after back-to-back Cuevas to Plotas combos with under ten minutes remaining in the first half.
The hosts answered back just minutes before heading into the locker room as So. Connecticut's Emma Farrel was offered a pass to the center of the box from Kristi Montemurro. Briana Rubenstein and the Panther defense allowed just that shot over the first 35 minutes of play.
Coming out of the locker room, Plotas struck again after grabbing a rebounded shot for her seventeenth goal of the season. The Blue and White were unable to muster up any other offense as they managed only two shots in the second half. Audrey Doloff, in the cage for the Owls collected 10 saves in the loss.
The Panthers will return to Motamed Field on Saturday, November 8 at 1 p.m. as they host Saint Michael's College. The team will be celebrating senior day as well as playing in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
