Bloomsburg Topples Men's Basketball In Overtime, 70-68

A late three in regulation helped host Bloomsburg force overtime.

Bloomsburg, PA – A late three-pointer in regulation from Bloomsburg University forced overtime that allowed the host Huskies to go onto a 70-68 victory against the Adelphi University men's basketball team earlier this evening in the 2014-15 season-opener for the Panthers.

Anthony McKie knocked down a shot from beyond the arc for the Huskies (2-0) with three seconds left to tie the game at 61 after the Panthers (0-1) had lead for most of the game. Junior Anthony Libroia went unsuccessful with his game-winning attempt at the end of regulation for the Brown and Gold.

In overtime, Chris Haigler scored six points for Bloomsburg that included a free throw to secure the final margin for the Huskies with seven seconds remaining. The Panthers were unable to get a shot off in the final seconds.

Senior Duane Morgan notched a "double-double" of 18 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three blocks and a like number of steals for the Brown and Gold. Classmate Boris Fodouop scored 14 points in 20 minutes off the bench while sophomore Damon Coleman added 12 points and three steals in game-high 43 minutes.

Haigler finished with a game-high 24 points for the Huskies while Jon Riles posted nine assists and five rebounds.

Adelphi outscored Bloomsburg 16-4 in the paint during the first half to help build a 34-26 halftime advantage. The Panthers continued the momentum into the early stages of the second half, putting together a 14-point lead on two occasions. However, the Huskies chipped away to eventually give McKie the opportunity to tie the game at 61.

The Panthers look to rebound this Wednesday by hosting Southern Connecticut State at 7:30 pm for this season's home and conference opener. The Owls were ranked second in the NABC Coaches' Preseason Poll.
