Box Score Garden City, NY - Braving the elements, the Adelphi University field hockey program played host to LIU Post in Northeast-10 Conference action Wednesday evening under the lights. The defending conference champions blanked the hosts in a 5-0 decision, scoring four goals in the second half. The Panthers fall to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in league play as the Pioneers cruised to their third straight win in the NE-10 to be 5-1 and 9-2 overall.
LIU Post notched their first goal of the evening just 11 minutes into the game, as Keliann Margiotta found Dani Crouse off one of their three penalty corners to take a 1-0 lead. The Brown and Gold defense held strong through the remainder of the half, allowing the visitors just five more shots as Adelphi goalkeeper
Kelly Serrao picked up two of her five saves on the evening.
Briana Rubenstein also contributed a defensive save in the loss.
The Pioneers came out of the locker room hot, scoring within the first three minutes of the second half. With an 11-2 shot advantage, the nearby neighbors found three more way past Serrao and
Amanda Gargiulo, who combined for nine saves, despite the loss. The Green and Gold finished the game with five goals as leading goalscorer Margiotta netted two and Kaycee Zelkovsky contributed two of her own.
Adelphi return to conference action on Saturday, November 1 as they travel to Saint Anselm College for a 4:15 p.m. game and then take on Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. in New Haven, Connecticut.
