Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team opened their fall season on Friday, September 15 with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over the Dolphins of Le Moyne College. With the win, the Panthers improve to 1-0 and 1-0 in the NE-10, while the Dolphins fall to 0-1.

The Panthers were led in part by the near-flawless play of Katarina Barborikova, who excelled in her debut for the Brown and Gold. Barborikova dropped just one game en route to a victory at second singles, after teaming up with Joanna Haich to blank their opponents at first doubles, 8-0. Haich also played a crucial part in the victory, as she rallied from a set down to claim victory in her first collegiate match at top-flight singles. Gaby Adia also picked up two wins on the day, recording a straight sets win at No. 3 singles after teaming with Taylor King for an 8-5 win at second doubles.
