Manchester, N.H. - The fourth-seeded Adelphi University women's tennis team traveled to top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Semifinals on Thursday. The Penmen bested the Panthers for the second straight year by a score of 5-2 and advance to the championship match against Stonehill College. The Panthers drop to 13-7 overall while the Penmen improve to 16-7.

The Panthers fell behind early as
Taylor King and
Gaby Adia were blanked by an 8-0 score at third doubles. However,
Samra Redzematovic and
Michelle Gurda triumphed by an 8-3 scoreline in the second slot to even proceedings at 1-1. The Penmen took a 2-1 at the close of doubles play as
Maria Toft and
Bianca Posa dropped a close 8-5 decision to Alena Mukdaprakorn and Diana Vamvakitis, the #22 doubles team in the nation.

The Panthers and Penmen went toe-to-toe in each of the matches in solo play. Behind a straight sets win at fourth singles, Adia pulled the Panthers level at 2-2. Amanda Albuquerque responded for the Penmen, as she defeated Haich in two sets to edge the hosts in front, 3-2. Although Gurda secured the opening set at second singles and Toft rallied from a set down in the top spot, neither could hold on to their momentum. The Penmen clinched both first and second singles by 6-0 third sets to secure the victory and advance to the championship.

Adelphi will now await a possible at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
