Box ScorePort Washington, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team fell to #23 New York Institute of Technology, 8-1, in its spring opener at the Port Washington Tennis Club on Friday. The Panthers, who are ranked eighth in the East region, are 3-2 overall, while NYIT improves to 14-1 and holds to top rank in the East.
The Bears took eight of nine from the Panthers, with
Gaby Adia pulling out the lone victory with an 8-3 win at No. 5 singles. Adia paired with
Joanna Haich and battled to a tough 8-6 loss at No. 3 doubles, while
Samra Redzematovic held her own in an 8-6 setback at No. 6 singles.
The Panthers return to action on March 9 when they head to Queens College for a non-league match at 12 p.m.
