Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team rode the momentum of a big first half to beat Pace University 67-55 in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday. The Panthers improve to 13-13 overall and 10-10 in league play, while the Setters slip to 9-15 overall and 6-14 in NE-10 action.
Bradley Simpson led the way for Adelphi with a career-high 22 points and 14 rebounds, while
RJ Samuels added 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench. For the Setters, Dimus Primus-Devonish posted a team-best 19 points and Jonathan Merceus tallied 14 points and eight boards.
The Panthers used an 11-0 run in the final 3:56 of the first half to build a lead that would hold steady for the rest of the game. A
Sean Crawford 3-pointer at 14:33 in the second half gave Adelphi a 21-point lead, 49-28, but an 11-2 run by the Setters whittled the Panther lead down to 11 points. A Jaylen Mann 3-pointer with 2:24 to go got Pace within 10, but a pair of baskets by
John Calarco kept the Setters at bay and helped Adelphi run away with the 67-55 win.
The Panthers host Le Moyne on Saturday in the team's regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
