Box Score Easton, Massachusetts - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to Easton, Massachusetts on Friday, November 8 for a Northeast-10 meeting with Stonehill College. The Panthers knotted the game at one set apiece, before falling 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 17-25, 23-25). With the loss Adelphi falls to 17-10 overall and 9-3 in Northeast-10 play.
Amanda Borges and
Haley Blunt led the offense with seven kills each, while both
Kaitlyn DeStefano and
Shelby Stoner chipped in six.
Katie Bryson posted a team-high 23 set assists, while Blunt (18),
Sierra Crook (13) and Borges (10) reached double digits in digs.
Both Adelphi and Stonehill struggled in the first game, posting hitting percentages of -.070 and -.057, but the Skyhawks won the kill battle, 10-6, collecting a 25-23 win. The second set was Adelphi's best on the night, collecting more kills then Stonehill, 12-11 and hitting for a better percentage, .226-.139 in a 25-20 win.
However, the Panthers faltered in the third set as Stonehill almost doubled Adelphi's kill total, 13-7 in picking up a 25-17 win. The fourth and final set was much closer as both teams hit above .200 and had just eight errors combined. However, the Skyhawks racked up six more kills then Adelphi to close out the game with a 25-23 win.
