Field Hockey Falls to Undefeated LIU Post in NE-10 Semifinals, 5-0

The Panthers conclude their 2013 season with an 11-9 overall record.

The Panthers concluded 2013 with an 11-9 overall record and will prepare for their trip to Spain in May.
Box Score Brookville, N.Y. - The fourth seeded Adelphi University field hockey team traveled across town to compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals against LIU Post on Friday afternoon. The undefeated Pioneers outshot the Panthers 17 to 5 to defeat the Brown and Gold 5-0. Adelphi ends its season as an NE-10 semifinalist with an 11-9 overall record for the 2013 season.

Jumping out to an early lead, the Pioneers notched two goals on the scoreboard, courtesy of Keliann Margiotta within the first 20 minutes of the game. Before the first half came to a close, Margiotta completed her hatrick, with another goal in the 25th minute.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Green and Gold would strike again on an unassisted shot by Lauren Adamusik, after a scrambling play in front of the Adelphi cage. Much of the offense was held by the Pioneers in both halves, as they held a 11 to nine penalty corner advantage, which they scored off of in the 55th minute by leading goal-scorer Carlee Dragon.

Kelly Serrao had five saves in the win, which keeps her in the top five for the conference.

The Pioneers will advance to the NE-10 Championship game in their first year as a member of the conference, slated for Sunday at 1 p.m., to be held on their home field. They will face the winner of the #2 Merrimack College/#3 Stonehill game.
