It was a back and forth affair in the first act which featured 10 lead changes and a scoring margin that reached as high as seven points in favor of Adelphi. An early and-one by Morgan gave the Panthers their first lead of the game at the 16:06 mark. A triple by Shulkin and a jumper by Fodouop kept the Brown and Gold on top for the time being.
With 10:30 showing, the scoreboard was leveled at 18-18 until five different players contributed to a 9-2 run in favor of Adephi, giving them a seven point cushion. However, it was short lived after AIC fired back with a 10-2 run of their own, capped by two made shots from the charity stripe with under a minute left in the half.
The Panthers were plagued by four turnovers and a 1-7 struggle from the field which left the flood gates open for AIC to make a crushing 14-2 run. Despite cutting the deficit to eight, foul trouble caught up with Dom Savino's squad forcing him to sit some of his starters.
AIC's lead grew from eight to 22 in a span of 4:46 and proved to be too much to overcome. Down the stretch, Morgan, Schulkin and
Matthew Citron contributed last minute points but the final horn sounded in favor of the Massachusetts based team.
