Box Score West Haven, CT - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to West Haven, Connecticut on Friday, November 22 to face the top seeded Chargers of the University of New Haven in a Northeast-10 Tournament semifinal contest. With the game knotted at 1-1, the Panthers forced extra points in game three, before dropping the set and eventually the game to the Chargers, 3-1 (19-25, 27-25, 25-27, 18-25). With the loss the Brown and Gold fall to 19-12 overall.
Kaitlyn DeStefano led three Panthers with double digit kills, totaling 18, while
Haley Blunt added 15 and
Shelby Stoner chipped in 11.
Katie Bryson kept the offense rolling with a game-high 50 assists, while
Sierra Crook paced the defense with a game-high 25 digs.
Mandy Stanislovaitis, Blunt and Bryson also reached double digits in digs with 18, 15 and 11 and DeStefano controlled the net with a total of five blocks.
The Panthers posted 12 kills in the first set, but were out done by New Haven's 13 to the tune of a 25-19 loss. The second set was all Adelphi, courtesy of 21 Brown and Gold kills that turned the Chargers away, 27-25. The third set saw both teams post 14 kills and just eight attack errors, but the hosts came out on top in extra points, 27-25. The fourth and final set also went to New Haven, 25-18, thanks to 17 Charger kills.

Katie Bryson was named to the Northeast-10 All-Tournament team.

The Panthers will wait and if they receive a seventh straight bid to the NCAA Division II Championships, they were ranked sixth in the latest NCAA East Region poll. The NCAA selection show is scheduled for 7:30 pm on Monday, November 25 at www.ncaa.com.
