Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, November 2 in the Center for Recreation and Sports. The Brown and Gold put down the Penmen in straight sets, 25-16, 25-18 and 28-26 to improve to 17-8 overall and 9-1 in conference play. The victory also pushed Adelphi's current win streak to seven games.
Kaitlyn DeStefano led the Panthers with a team-high 10 kills and had a game-high nine blocks, including four solo efforts.
Shelby Stoner also had a great day at the net, posting seven kills and six blocks in the win, while
Colleen Raga and
Amanda Borges had six kills each.
Sierra Crook led Adelphi with 12 digs, while
Katie Bryson had a team-high 25 set assists.
The first two sets cruised by in almost identical fashion, close for the first half of the set and then a late Adelphi surge gave the Panthers the game victories, 25-16 and 25-18. The third set was much more back and forth and the visiting Penmen controlled the action late, leading 23-21. However, a late Brown and Gold charge, knotted the contest at 23 on a Southern New Hampshire attack error. The Panthers and Penmen would trade points, until
Mandy Stanislovaitis kill followed a Southern New Hampshire error to give Adelphi the win, 28-26.
