Panthers Drop Three Games on Day Two at FDU Jamboree

The bowling team improves to 19-12 on the season.

Erika Schneider rolled her best against the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, with a pin total of 236.
Elmwood Park, NJ - Day two of team play at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Jamboree left the Adelphi University Bowling team with a 2-3 record and a 5-5 record thus far at the tournament.

In the first match of the day the Panthers lead through six frames against three-time NCAA Champions, University of Maryland Eastern Shores, but wer unable to sustain their effort falling by 68 pins, 975-907. Holly Zink (192) lead the way for the ladies in the losing effort.

Adelphi then faced the War Hawks of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, a 2013 NCAA finalist in a breath-taking match. The Brown and Gold fired their best total of the day with a 1002 effort as Erica Schneider (236) and freshman Laura Zaugg (212) performed well but UWW held on to a four-pin advantage winning the match.

The next match saw Michele Fitzpatrick (210) and Kathryn Rivera (192) help lift the Panthers to a 239 pin victory 830-591 over NJCU.

The second to last match featured the the Commodores of Vanderbilt University, who staked an early lead but Adelphi was able to rally back, pulling the match close after eight frames. The Panthers opened twice in the ninth frame which totaled 11 open frames for. The match came down to the last two bowlers and Vanderbilt prevailed by 25 pins, 957-932 despite fine efforts by Schneider (232), Zink (212), and Jessica Lutz (196).

In the final match of the day, the Panther keglers took down the squad from Salem International University by 217 pins, 936-719, as freshman Leanne Reed (216) and Zink (214) had fine efforts.

The Panthers are currently 5-5 on the weekend and 19-12 overall on the season. The team will return to action Sunday, November 3 in the finals, which are to be held in a step ladder format.
