Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - In their final regular-season home game, the Adelphi University field hockey team defeated the Falcons of Bentley University in an offense driven affair, 3-1. The loss drops Bentley to 11-7 overall and 5-5 in NE-10 play. The victory gives Adelphi a playoff berth, with a 5-5 conference record.

The Panthers spent much of the first half working Bentley's defense. Despite eight shots and nine penalty corners, the Brown and Gold were unable to find a way past Bentley goalkeeper Katie Kelley, who registered 10 saves in the loss.

After halftime, Adelphi had a nine to two shot advantage, which they capitalized on, scoring in the 51st, 55th and 56th minutes. Carly Aceves tallied her fifth, and sixth goals of the season on assists from Kristen Bagley and Jamie Ackerman respectively. Less than a minute later, Aceves would finalize her hat trick by firing her seventh goal of the season past Kelley.

Kelly Serrao played all 70 minutes in goal and had five saves on seven shots on goal by the Blue and White.

Coach's Thoughts
"It was a great second half comeback," said Head Coach Gloria O'Connor. "I'm really happy about the shots we took on goal and the team knows what we have to tweak in order to be ready to play on Tuesday."
