Field Hockey Shut Down by No. 5 LIU Post

The Panthers have an opportunity to bounce back in their upcoming two-game homestand.

The Panthers will look to come out strong on Saturday against Saint A's as they approach the second half of NE-10 play.
Box Score Brookville, N.Y.- The Adelphi University field hockey team suffered its third consecutive loss Thursday evening, falling 5-0 at No. 5 LIU Post. With the victory, the Pioneers remain perfect at 13-0 overall and 7-0 in their inagural season in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Panthers fall to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in NE-10 play.

The Green and Gold struck within the first minute of play, as Carlee Dragon found the back of the cage off a pass from Keliann Margiotta. Adelphi would have opportunities to score on two penalty corners in the third minute, but LIU Post goalkeeper Meredith Stocklin would turn both shots away.

Margiotta would knock in one of her three goals of the evening before the first half was through. Several Pioneers would put up shots, as they took a 10 in the first half alone. They would finish the evening with a 22 to five advantage in shots taken, three of them getting past Adelphi goalkeeper Kelly Serrao in the second half. Kristen Bagley and Jamie Ackerman were the only two Panthers who were able to put up shots against Stocklin.

Despite the loss, Serrao was kept busy, collecting 14 saves in 70 minutes.

Coach's Thoughts on the Game
"I think we need to do a better job of being aggressive," stated Head Coach Gloria O'Connor. "We saw them earlier in the season and needed to make adjustments to their type of play sooner. The team needs to move on from this loss and come out stronger in Saturday's conference contest."
