Laser-sharp focus on the attacking front resulted in just three attacking errors for Adelphi after two sets, which the Panthers took by decisive scores of 25-17 and 25-11. The Panthers appeared ready to close out the match in three, but the Yellow Jackets refused to fold and used a six-point swing late in the set to turn a 20-17 disadvantage into a 23-20 lead. Adelphi managed to claw back within a point, but back-to-back attack errors spelled a 25-23 win for AIC in set three.
The two squads battled to a 7-7 tie early in the fourth set, but consecutive aces by Bryson and a pair of Rico kills swung the momentum to the Adelphi side. The lead swelled to seven after a handful of AIC attack miscues, and
Alexandra Kahen delivered two of her three aces on the day to give the Panthers a 20-12 lead.
Bailey Swan crushed a kill for the visitors to make it 24-17, but the Yellow Jackets would get no closer as Dorko put the finishing touches on a dump shot to the front right corner to seal set four, 25-17.
