Box Score
Rindge, N.H. - The Adelphi University field hockey team earned its third consecutive win with a 3-0 shutout victory in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday. After avenging a 3-2 overtime loss to the Ravens earlier in the season, the Panthers now stand at 3-8 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10. The Ravens move to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Cassie Cabral and
Molly Cuevas each netted goals to continue to share the team lead with six markers on the year, while
Jamie Ackerman also found the back of the cage.
Kristen Bagley assisted on Cabral's early score, and
Emilee Rahner and Cuevas each provided help on Ackerman's second half goal.
The Panthers outshot Franklin Pierce by a wide 19-3 margin for the most shots on goal in a single game this season. Adelphi took just six corners to the Ravens' four.
Cabral put her squad up early with a scrambling goal off a feed from Bagley in the fourth minute. Later in the first half, Cuevas made it a 2-0 game with a third-chance shot off a rebound. A pair of penalty corners and a handful of good looks at the goal gave the Ravens an opportunity to crack the scoreboard, but Adelphi goalie
Kristine Puzio stopped both attempts for two of her three saves on the day.
Adelphi poured on 15 shots in the second period, but only Ackerman would hit paydirt with a drive from the top after a Cuevas corner and Rahner's set-up. Ackerman's goal at the 57:18 would make the final score 3-0 in favor of the visitors.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday when the travel to Southern Connecticut State for an NE-10 contest at 7 p.m.
