Box Score Queens, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to nearby Queens, New York on Thursday, September 20 to take on former East Coast Conference rival Queens College in non-conference action. The Panthers ran their win streak to three games with a 3-1 defeat of Queens (25-15, 20-25, 25-10, 25-14) and evened their record at 6-6.
Kaitlyn DeStefano led the Panther offense with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .435, while
Emily Dorko had 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .258.
Katie Bryson ran the Adelphi attack, collecting 37 assists, while
Bianca Hernandez led all players with 16 digs.
The Panthers trailed early in game one, 12-9 when a Dorko kill sparked a game ending 16-3 run that gave Adelphi a 25-15 win. With game two tied at 15 all Queens came alive, doubling up the Panthers the rest of the way to even the match at one with a 25-20 game two victory.
However, Adelphi left little doubt in games three and four, jumping out to a lead of 13-7 on the way to a 25-10 game three win and closed out the contest in game four, 25-14 after holding a 17-9 lead.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, September 21 when they travel to Worcester, Massachusetts for a noon meeting with Northeast-10 opponent Assumption College and a 2:00 pm contest with Daemen College.
