Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team seized sole possession of the top spot in the Northeast-10 Conference and stands alone as the only undefeated squad in NE-10 play after a 9-0 win over The College of Saint Rose on Wednesday. The Panthers are now 14-3 overall and 9-0 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights slip to 4-6 both overall and in the conference.
Adelphi cruised to one of its most dominant wins of the season with four of nine victories coming as shutouts.
Joanna Haich and
Taylor King posted 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 singles and No. 6 singles, respectively, while
Carolyn Smith won 8-0 at No. 5 singles. King paired with
Samra Redzematovic for an 8-0 triumph at No. 2 doubles to cap the commanding win.
Now finished with regular season home matches, the Panthers take to the road for four straight contests, beginning at Bentley University on Friday at 12 p.m.
