Box ScoreGarden City, N.Y. - The second-seeded Adelphi Univeristy women's tennis team was eliminated from the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament with a 5-0 Semifinals loss to third-seeded Southern New Hampshire University on Friday.
The Panthers fell behind 3-0 after doubles play as the Penmen pulled out an 8-4 win and a pair of 8-3 victories. SNHU then prevailed after the first two singles matches which sealed the Penmen's third straight trip to the NE-10 championship match.
Carolyn Smith and
Gaby Adia put up the toughest fight on the day, falling 8-4 at No. 3 singles. The Penmen avenaged a 5-4 regular season loss that broke the squad's streak of 37 consecutive NE-10 regular season victories. SNHU will face top-seeded Stonehill College in Sunday's title match at 1 p.m.
Adelphi finishes its NE-10 slate at 17-5 overall, and will await a possible at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
