Women's Tennis Stays Unbeaten in NE-10 with 8-1 Win at Saint Anselm

Panthers win fourth straight, improve to 6-0 in league

Manchester, N.H. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team preserved its perfect Northeast-10 Conference record and won its fourth consecutive match with a 8-1 victory at Saint Anselm College on Sunday. The Panthers are now 11-3 overall and 6-0 in NE-10 play, while the Hawks drop to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in the league.

The Panthers continued to roll with dominant doubles play. The duo of Carolyn Smith and Gaby Adia took a decisive 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles, and a pair of 8-2 triumphs at the top two slots helped Adelphi sweep doubles competition.

Michelle Gurda led the charge in singles action, winning handily by a score of 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Joanna Haich also posted a commanding win via a 6-0, 6-3 decision at No. 5 singles to help the Panthers the second 8-1 overall win in as many matches.

Adelphi returns to the courts on Saturday at 3 p.m. when the Panthers host nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University, one of four squads that remain undefeated in NE-10 play.
