Washington, D.C. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team dropped a tightly-contested 5-4 non-conference match at the University of the District of Columbia on Sunday. The Panthers split singles matches 3-3 with the Firebirds but won just one of three in doubles action to fall to 7-3 on the season.  UDC climbs to 11-2 on the year with the win.

Sophomore Gaby Adia posted another standout performance, winning 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 5 singles and aiding in an 8-2 win with Carolyn Smith at No. 3 doubles. Senior Maria Toft took a hard-fought three set win at the top singles spot, while Joanna Haich cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

The Panthers open the spring half of their Northeast-10 Conference schedule when they travel to Pace University on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. match.
