Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University swim team played host to Post University on Saturday 27 in historic Woodruff Hall. The Panthers swam past Post, with the men collecting a 28-5 victory and the women pulling out a 49-35 triumph as both teams improved to 2-0 on the season.
Three different swimmers captured individual event wins as
Rachel Garry,
Brittany Stanford and
Gabrielle Terzano helped propel Adelphi to victory. Garry took home top honors in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:08.99, while Stanford was first to the wall in the 200 yard freestyle (2:09.68) and Terzano was the fastest swimmer in the 500 yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:55.98.
Terzano also helped Adelphi to a relay win as she teamed with
Heather Miller,
Ana Galesic and
Christina Tangel to post a time of 2:09.64 in the 200 yard medley relay.
The men were lead by
Carlos Ballon, who captured two individual first place finishes, taking top honors in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:47.03) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:35.17). Teammate,
Kevin Rohle helped Adelphi to shut the door on Post with his victory in the 200 yard freestyle, stopping the clock at 2:01.43.
Rohle was joined on the 200 yard freestyle relay by
Chad Ankers,
Michael Mayer and
William Gerard as they posted a winning time of 1:55.83.
Adelphi returns to action on Thursday, November 8 when they play host to Montclair State University in a 6:00 pm contest in Garden City, New York.
