Garden City, NY- On Thursday, November 8 the Red Hawks of Montclair visited the pool in Woodruff Hall to take on the Adelphi University Panthers. Both the men and the women's team were left in the wake of the Hawks as the final scores were 65-56 and 77-43 respectively. This notches one loss in both teams records, making them 2-1 thus far this year.
The men were led by relay team
Michael Mayer,
Jalen Jennings,
Chad Ankers and
Zachary Mazur. They captured victories in both the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.62 and the 200 yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:33.67. Individual winners from that relay team included Mazur in the 50 yard freestyle (22.62) and Jennings who outperformed all other swimmers in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:29.19) and the 200 yard IM (2:19.94).
The women found success in the water with their relay team as well, making it to the wall in 1:50.55 with
Samantha Spacone,
Ana Galesic,
Brittany Stanford and
Gabrielle Terzano. Galesic would go on to capture the first place spot in the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 1:06:96 while freshman
Morgan McCurdy was the only other first place finisher, out-swimming her opponents in the 500 yard freestyle event with a time of 5:47.28.
Both teams return to the pool with a tri-meet against the Queens College Knights and the Baruch College Bearcats on November 15, at 6 p.m. in Flushing, N.Y.
