Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's tennis team earned its second straight 9-0 victory, playing to a decisive Northeast-10 Conference win over Franklin Pierce University on Saturday. The Panthers improve to a spotless 3-0 overall and 2-0 in NE-10 play, while the Ravens slide to 0-5 overall.
Dating back to last season, the Panthers have now won 14 of their last 15 NE-10 regular season matches, the only blemish coming in the form of a 5-4 loss at Stonehill College on April 11, 2012.
At the No. 3 doubles position,
Gaby Adia and
Joanna Haich dominated in a 8-0 victory.
Maria Toft and
Bianca Posa cruised to an 8-1 win at top flight doubles, while
Michelle Gurda and Samar Redzematovic won by the same score at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Gurda (No. 2 singles) and Haich (No. 5 singles) blanked the opposition and did not surrender a game. The rest of the Panthers enjoyed authoritative wins as well, with no opponent getting closer than 6-2 in a single set.
The Panthers hit the courts again on Saturday when they travel to Chestnut Hill College for a non-league match at 12 p.m.
