Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Panthers played host to the Golden Knights of the College of St. Rose on Saturday, October 6. The Brown and Gold squeaked out wins in extra time in game one and two, before putting St. Rose away in the third game to complete the sweep, 27-25, 27-25 and 25-22. With the win Adelphi improves to 12-8 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while The Golden Knights fall to 8-7 and 1-3 in the NE-10.

Kaitlyn DeStefano and Samantha Rico led the Panther attack with 11 and 10 kills each, while Colleen Raga and Haley Blunt chipped in six kills apiece. Katie Bryson had a game-high 33 assists, while Bianca Hernandez led all players with 21 digs.

Game one was tied at 11 when a Chelsea Overholt kill sparked a 4-0 spurt that gave the Panthers a 15-11 cushion, but St. Rose rebounded, knotting the score at 19. The Panthers then led late, 25-24, but an Adelphi miscue knotted the score at 25, forcing extra time. However, a Raga kill, followed by a Hernandez service ace gave the Brown and Gold a 1-0 lead in the match.

Adelphi held a 17-13 lead in the second game and St. Rose would battle back and force extra points again, this time on an Ariana Wilson kill. But, back-to-back Golden Knight errors handed the Panthers a 2-0 match lead, 27-25. The same patten emerged in game three, as Adelphi took a 12-9 lead only to fall into a tie at 17. However, this time the Panthers would reel off 8 of the final 13 points to secure the win, 25-22, ending the game with a kill from DeStefano.

The Brown and Gold return to the court on Thursday, October 11 when they travel to Rockville, Centre, New York for a 7:00 pm meeting with Molloy College.
