Ringe, N.H.
- The Adelphi University field hockey team cruised past Franklin Pierce 5-1 in a non-conference contest at Sodexo Field on Tuesday. Senior Jeanette Heimerle notched two goals and an assist in the Panthers' second straight win by three goals or more.

Also for the Panthers (2-1), senior Jessica Mulhern and juniors Cassie Cabral and Emilee Rahner each scored, while senior Brittany Kinsley dished out two assists and classmate Julianne Gerbino added a helper.

Senior goalie Lucia Vigliotti made seven saves for Adelphi, who were narrowly edged by the Ravens in shots (13 to 12) and penalty corners (6 to 4).

For Franklin Pierce (1-1), sophomore Chanelle Letarte scored her team's lone goal to tie the game at 1-1 at the 23:11 mark in the first half.

Mulhern gave Adelphi an early edge on a one-timer off a centering feed from Heimerle just three minutes into the game, but Letarte's tally spelled a 1-all knot that would carry into the second half. The Panthers then exploded for four unanswered goals, the first two of which found Rahner and Heimerle hitting paydirt within a minute of each other. Cabral and Heimerle each added insurance goals on deflections to put the game out of reach.

The Panthers open Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday when they host Assumption College at 1 p.m.
